The history of Ardhi University Muslim Students Association (ARUMSA) goes parallel with the history of Ardhi University. During the year 1956, the Colonial government established a Survey Training Centre (STC) at Mgulani Dar es Salaam. At this period there were few Muslim students who organized themselves in different Islamic matters such prayers but under no any association.
In 1972 the Survey Training Centre (STC) was expanded and renamed as Ardhi Institute. It was around 1980’s when Muslims who were pursuing their studies organized and establish their association known as Muslim Students of Ardhi Institute (MSARI).In 1996 Ardhi Institute was expanded and become a University College of the University of Dar es Salaam known as University College of Lands and Architectural Studies (UCLAS).At this time the Muslim Students of Ardhi Institute (MSARI) become UCLASS Muslim Association(UMA).It was the branch of Muslim Students of University of Dar es Salaam(MSAUD) known as UMA-MSAUD.
In 2007, UCLAS was transformed into ARDHI UNIVERSITY. On the same year the UMA-MSAUD was transformed to Ardhi University Muslim Students Association (ARUMSA).ARUMSA is a trustworthy religious association that legally existing and operating under the Ardhi University.

To mobilize and provide relevant education,training,research and services in Islamic perspective to the society for promoting Islamic spirit and eventually attaining the sustainable Muslim society.

- To mobilize and unite all Muslims at Ardhi University
- To safeguard the interests and improving the general welfare of Muslims at Ardhi University.
- To impart Islamic knowledge to Muslim students and community at large that can create conducive environment for them to adapt in practice the Islamic way of life.
- To use the potentials especially of professionals existing at Ardhi University to plan the strategies that can promote and assist the Muslim development.
- Conducting Islamic based-researches and publishing of research findings to Muslim community for Islamic advancements.
- To foster Mutual understanding between ARUMSA and other Islamic organizations and institutions inside and outside Tanzania.
